Introduction


Fundamentals of SENERGY


The Story behind SENERGY began as a part of the Student’s Leaders Program, called SLP organized by Injaz Jordan


INJAZ launched Social Leaders Program (SLP) as an initiative aspiring to empower and enable youth to lead Jordanian society towards a better future through interacting with some of the most successful business and social leaders in Jordan. Each participating leader is matched with one of the business and social leaders who act as his/her mentor and guide them through the implementation of high impact social leadership projects. The projects must tackle key issues and help solve challenges facing the Jordanian society. Inspired by Injaz’s Vision, our founder, along with a team of like-minded individuals, took on the responsibility of establishing a Non for profit organization dedicated towards finding ways that will lead Jordan into it’s environmental & energy sustainability. Under the mentorship, guidance & support of the Chief Executive Officer of Umniah Mobile Company & Injaz’ board member, who also has a great passion towards environmental & energy sustainability in Jordan. The great integration between our team & mentor gives us a strategic edge for the success of our Initiative.


The core of our project is sustainability, we believe that the only way to sustain the culture and advancement of Jordan as a country, is by sustaining our energy sources, as well as our environment’s health. Driven from this methodology, we identified the elements of sustainability, as follows:

Those are the main components of a sustainable society. Understanding what they mean leads us to think, what happens when they all are integrated together? We answered this question by the following diagram:

We call this the sustainability matrix, the inter-dimensional mixing of the three core elements of sustainability, when integrated, the following happens

    • Economic & Social : Socio-Economic (where social/economic issues meet) Key Areas:




Charitable contributions & community sponsorship issues, Job creation & life long learning programs, Work/Life balance & human rights issues. In order to overcome these challenges, we summarized the solutions to the following:

      • Better human resource management & active internal programs

      • Developing a per-company sustainability report

      • Educating employees to solve modern socio-economic issues

    • Environmental & Social : Socio-Environmental (where social/environmental issues meet) Key Areas:




Climate change issues, Increased energy & other utilities issues, Sense Pollution issues (Noise, Scenery, Smells & etc..), & Health Issues. This leaves a major impact on the most important component of a society, we the humans. That’s why areas of focus in this category must include:

      • Reducing waste & increasing energy efficiency

      • Providing the next generation with tools to innovate for solutions

      • Educating the public on sustainable best-practices

      • Connecting environmental leaders together to brainstorm possible solutions

Resource & Energy Efficiency issues, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) & Socially Responsible Investment (SRI) issues, & Energy & Environmental issues


The World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) describes eco-efficiency as a management strategy of doing more with less, we can this reach by:

      • Reducing Environmental Impact

      • Shifting a culture through educating






 



  • Economic & Environmental & Social = SUSTAINABILITY This is the core of our initiative, combing issues and solutions from all three aspects, we get to a realization where we have to create a partnership with multiple segments of the society & educate them with knowledge about the components of Energy & Environmental sustainability of that society, where every stakeholder is also a leader who will start acting in methods that drive towards a sustainable society, and through the way of doing so, changing the culture of a whole society, leading that society to the socio-eco-economical society we long for. Out of this realization, and coming from our deep belief & vision of a sustainable world, an idea was born. We set out to create interactive programs whose mission is to create a culture, while at the same time being socially & economically acceptable to all of our targeted segments.
